A shockwave is a sound wave that, when it enters the tissues, acts as a strong pressure wave that was initially used in the treatment of kidney stones. It is similar to ultrasound in that it is a sound wave. However the frequency of the sound wave is lower, so unlike ultrasound, we do feel and hear a shockwave.
The effectiveness of this treatment has now been proven for longer term MSK injuries such as achilles or patella tendon issues, tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, shoulder pain and tennis elbow.
For appropriate conditions, around 3-6 sessions can be hugely effective. For more information, please contact Edge Physio or for detailed scientific information, check out

Edge Physio was the first clinic in Sudbury, Suffolk to use this specialist piece of equipment and Scott has over 10 years of experience using shockwave therapy for pain and injuries.
